Mumutaru of Okinawa

Mumutaru of Okinawa (Uchinaa nu Mumutaru in Uchinaguchi) is the Okinawan retelling of the beloved Japanese folktale Momotaro, also known as “The Peach Boy.” This charming playscript weaves Okinawan elements into the classic story, creating a unique and culturally rich version for readers of all ages.

The playscript is presented in Uchinaguchi, Japanese, and English, with translations provided by Kyoko Hijirida, who also serves as one of the co-editors alongside Noriyoshi Kanaizumi. The story is beautifully brought to life with illustrations by Sachi Greene.
